| A Great Christmas Story from a Customer - December 21, 2009 To Whom It May Concern, I wanted to relate a recent customer service experience to you. Around 4 months ago on a visit to your St. Albert, Alberta location, we purchased a small toy bus for our son from your display. This has turned into a treasured item of his and he takes it everywhere, including bed. Our son is now 2 years old and we have been explaining Santa Claus to him this year, up until about 10 days ago; there was nothing that he wanted from Santa. When asked, he would say that 'I'm fine'. 10 days ago, he accidently broke one of the doors off of his treasured bus, he was very upset. After some tears, he turned to me and said he knew what he wanted from Santa, he wanted his bus fixed. My heart skipped a beat thinking how Santa was going to pull this off. I ran into the St. Albert Smitty's the next morning on the slight hope that perhaps there was still a bus available for sale, alas, there wasn't.
The Manager that I spoke to was so very helpful and understanding and offered to provide me with the Edmonton Head Office number so that I could speak directly to the person who handles the merchandise. I was very impressed that this information was given to me and thanked the Manager.
Upon connecting with the Edmonton head office, one of the staff went above and beyond to track down a toy bus. She emailed all of the Edmonton locations and to our great surprise and relief a bus was located at another outlet. The Manning Crossing location put the buses that they had on hold and I picked them up the following day. My family is so very relieved that we will be able to make the wish of a 2 year old come true this Christmas.
I would truly like to commend Smitty's for creating a work environment where employees can truly go above and beyond the regular call of duty in providing a level of customer service that goes so far above what would normally be expected. This experience has truly impacted my family, we will always remember this when we decide where to dine in the future.
